Brazil

brazil

Just watched Brazil. I must say, hands down this is one of the best movies of all time. Terry Gilliam (Best known for beeing one of the Monthy Pythons) has directed many other feature films like the amazing “Twelve Monkeys”, the bizar “Fear and loathing in Las Vegas”, the funny “Time Bandits” and offcourse “Monty Python & the quest for the holy grail” and “The meaning of life”. In other words, this man is an amazing storyteller, a great director and not everyone knows this but he’s an animator also. You see! ANIMATORS RULE !

Gorilla’s are so cool

Listening to an animationpodcast with Glen Kean, while exploring what gorillas are all about. Research is lots of fun, I’m thinking of doing a lip-sync with gorillaz, or orang utans. We’ll see.

Shawshank redemption.

Greatest movie of all time? hmmmm very questionable, a master piece, HELL YES.

Just look at the amazing minimalistic acting by Morgan Freeman, acting in no way has to be big and expressive. This one just gives me the chills.

Blink

Now here’s a book that’s very interesting, I have the audiobook version since it’s easier to listen to than to read on a buss( I get carsick héhé).

The book “Blink: The power of thinking without thinking” by Malcolm Gladwell is about first impressions, snap judgements or as he cals them “slices”. And interesting book because it’s easily transferable to art and to animation. If something doesn’t work the first time, or if it doesn’t seem to get the message across on the first impression than it’s wrong. If something doesn’t captivate you the first time, there is a reason for it. Anyway if you ever get the chance to read it or get it in your hands, just enjoy ;-)

Isn’t carricature fun?

I find it to be way more fun than realism, it frees the mind of asking itself on what’s technically wrong. And makes you focus on the essence: form, exageration, message, character, etc.
