Well I had a fantastic two weeks at Gobelins, my god what a great school. I encourage anyone to try and get your place in the third edition of Gobelins summerschool next year. It seems this place knows what animation is all about. I thought it was Kristof Serrand who said you’ll learn allot more when you are in a proffesional enviroment and how true he is. We had a great group of talented but also fun people so here’s a little thanks to all of you:

Tobey, Christine, Yumiko and the american

Thanks to you Habi; fun, crazy, disney loving animation pimp

“Your man”, crazy ass, Irish Stephen

And our own animation Casanova, lol
I propably forgot allot of people, but I didn’t get pictures from everyone so my appologies.
We had classes from quite a few well known artists and some serious tutors. The thing that struck me the most was the love for animation, I think I’ve inherited a bit of that also. But we were also in awe of some of the tutors, the one who struck me the most was Kristof Serrand, that man can animate ! He just showed us what level of proffesionalism is possible, his work on Balto and Prince of egypt is just eye-popping works of beauty. It just like a whole new world of animation has opened, and new goals are set. Other than a great artist he’s also a great Milt Kahl fan, a Disney fan for that matter and when he starts talking he just doesn’t stop, not that I mind, I just love it. A great guy.

Kristof Serrand, me and Michel Ocelot.
I could go on for days on how great and valuable this Summerschool at Gobelins was, but I suppose you get the idea. Two of the people responsible for this event are Eric Riewer and Benoit Girma so I just wanna thank them to.

Sadly I didn’t get a picture with Benoit, but thanks to both these men for such a wonderfull event.
See ya
Mathieu
